Consulting
Sleep is an operational problem. Most organizations treat it like an individual one.
Sleep affects every major performance system inside an organization — cognition, decision-making, burnout, safety, recovery, communication, leadership, and long-term health. Dr. Shelby works with organizations to build evidence-based sleep strategies that improve performance, reduce fatigue-related risk, and create sustainable behavior change.

Why organizations hire me
Clinical expertise, behavioral change expertise, and real-world implementation experience. As a board-certified behavioral sleep medicine specialist and a clinical psychologist, Dr. Shelby understands both the science of sleep and the realities of behavior change. She has worked directly with patients struggling with insomnia, sleep apnea, hypersomnia, circadian disorders, and treatment adherence — which means she understands the gap between what sounds good in theory and what people can actually sustain in real life.
What that translates to in consulting work
Translating complex sleep science into actionable strategy.
Identifying where fatigue is silently impacting performance.
Building programs people will actually use.
Communicating effectively to both leadership and frontline teams.
Bridging the gap between wellness messaging and measurable outcomes.
Brand consulting & media partnerships
Where behavioral sleep science reaches a consumer audience.Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Shelby partners with consumer brands and media organizations to translate behavioral sleep medicine for large audiences. The work is grounded in research and education, not product endorsement — bringing the same evidence base she uses with patients to the development of programming, research, and content that reaches people at scale.

LEGO® DREAMZzz™
Dr. Shelby partnered with LEGO on global research into children's sleep habits, dream experiences, bedtime routines, and the role of unstructured play — work that helped inform the development and launch of the LEGO DREAMZzz franchise. She went on to create digital and television media content on children's sleep health, healthy bedtime habits, the importance of sleep for learning and creativity, and when parents should seek professional help.La Mer
Dr. Shelby consulted on the development and educational positioning of sleep-focused skincare, including overnight repair and sleep mask formulations. She also took part in consumer-facing discussions and media content on the relationship between sleep and skin health — how the skin repairs and restores itself overnight, and how poor sleep affects skin function and appearance. Why this work is different
Most workplace sleep initiatives focus on information. Information alone rarely changes behavior.Dr. Shelby's approach is rooted in behavioral sleep medicine — the science of helping people create sustainable sleep change in the real world. That means the work is:
Evidence-based.
Grounded in the published sleep research and the clinical protocols that produce measurable outcomes.Practical and implementable.
Designed to fit the operational realities of the organization, not an idealized version of it.Performance-oriented.
Built around the outcomes the organization actually cares about — recovery, safety, decision-making, leadership stamina.Clinically informed.
Drawing on direct patient-care experience, not just academic familiarity with the topic.Designed for long-term adoption.
Built for sustained behavior change, not short-term motivation that fades after the kickoff workshop.Good sleep programming should improve more than sleep itself. It should improve how people think, recover, perform, lead, and function under pressure. That is the outcome the consulting practice focuses on.
